"justice is what love looks like in public"

Many Firsts

After about 2 months of break, Cove Red finally surfaced again and performed our first gig at the OCF Alumni Dinner 09'.
It was a night of many firsts.

#1 - my first time wearing slippers at a gig. (they were leather, so quite presentable. I guess)
#2 - our first time playing for an audience that's made up of a few generations from the same organization
#3 - our first time playing for an audience made up of 80% old folks (old aka 55 and above)
#4 - our first time eating dinner immediately after getting off stage
#5 - our first time receiving a love gift in front of a smiling crowd
#6 - our first time performing 99% covers (we only did one original by yinky)
#7 - yinky's first time playing crazy cool jazzed-up versions of some pretty cheesy christian songs
#7 - my first time singing a more "free" and contemporary style to those now-not-boring christian songs
(i needed to match up to her standard. Otherwise, would've defeated the purpose)

All in all, a pretty "chill" night. We enjoyed ourselves playing for the crowd as they eased their hunger with an array of unhealthy grub, like fried rice, other fried stuff that I didn't recognize, otah (grilled spiced fish cake) and fruit punch, which we happily chowed down after performing our other 2 numbers after the crowd had settled down.

It was kinda special performing the two songs that we specially chose for them. We played Yinky's original composition, "The Generation" *which sounds awesome* and "Legacy" by Nichole Nordeman. The two songs were selected because of the common theme of leaving a legacy and living for the next generation. Especially apt for the reunion of the generations of OCFers. (Overseas Christian Fellowship) It was our privilege to play for those who have braved it all before us, the ones who are still riding on the waves today, and also for the young ones who will be creating new ones in the years to come.

Oh, and I gotta say, the room offered an amazing view of the Singapore city, mostly of the Clarke Quay and City hall area. 30 storeys. No wonder.

Thanks to Kevin, Annie and Fannie for inviting us to partner with you for this event. =)

More to come.

Surprise!!

A meet-up with Kevin Mathews revealed a delightful surprise.

Okay, a jaw-dropping shocker.

Apparently, there was this article about the sound of Singapore in "Today" newspaper on Thursday. The reporter, Chris Toh, and his team selected 44 songs that they feel represent the sound of Singapore. "Heart Conversations" got in. =)

Here's what was written:

"30. HEART CONVERSATIONS BY RACHAEL TEO (2009)
This emotive track by the singer-songwriter belies her relative newbie status to the scene. Watch this space."

And here's the link to read the full story and list of songs:

I'm honored, humbled and delighted.

Now, that's ANOTHER reason to get your copy of our EP, "Awaken The Dreamer" huh? ;) We still have limited copies left and we intend to sell digital tracks online, and possibly print more EPs to sell at upcoming gigs! Simply email us or leave us a comment if you'd like to get your hands on it!

I'll leave you with my favorite line from "Heart Convos", as we affectionately call it.

"Oh heart, are you tired of waiting for His promises at bay. Don't you worry about tomorrow, keep beating for today."

Making it into the list of 44 is a fulfillment of this promise behind the lament.

For those out there wondering if it'll ever come, it will.

We ain't seen nuthin' yet. ;)

And We're Back!

Ola friends of Cove Red,

Good news to those who love us: We're back from the US! (Yinky from holidaying and visiting family, Rach from school and a week of vacation)

It's been an incredible 6 weeks of needed rest, learning life, catching up with loved ones for yinky, making new friends and forming family for rach, and most of all, a break from each other.
That wasn't necessarily bad.
It was necessary.

After numerous gigs over a consecutive few months, we were burned out.
And to be honest, it wasn't a lot of fun.
But the show had to go on, especially with the launch of our EP.
So we grit our teeth and continued gigging, and flashing our best smiles while at it.
Oh, in no way were those moments of joy fake though.
They just didn't last very long.

So we decided to take a break from each other. And our music. And we set off for, ironically, the same country.
After about 3 weeks of non-communication with each other, one day, yinky decided to drop by the church where I was studying to visit her friend who happened to be my fellow schoolmate.
(and of course, i knew she wanted to see me too, though she didn't spell it out. haha.)
We met up for a while over an in-n-out burger, snapped some pictures and said goodbye as she set off for her other leg of her US tour (haha)

A couple more weeks passed.
I was the first to leave the US with my friend, Eeleen.
She came back the week after my return.
We met up the next day at Coffee Bean @ Rail Mall (just this Wednesday)

The air felt different.
The joy was evident.
Excitedly, we chatted late into the night, sharing our experiences in the US, laughing, yes, actually laughing together.

AWESOME....

So yeah, Cove Red is back and we're better.

Take that, stupid tired bug. *bish*

Anyway, though we've only been back for less than 2 weeks, we already have a few gigs lined up in August and September.
Check out our facebook for more details coming your way soon.

10th August (Monday): OCF dinner gig (Overseas Christian Fellowship, our first real Christian gig)
18th September (Friday): Cove Red's debut appearance at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre
21st September (Monday): Rachael & Friends Gig (featuring Yinky too... naturally!)

So yeah, no details as yet. Will post them up soon.

Thank you to everyone who helped support us in buying our CDs, writing us notes, encouraging us with your words, most importantly, for your friendship.

DREAM ON, FELLOW DREAMERS!!!

Love,
Rach

NEW Vids!

Hey guys!

I just uploaded a bunch of videos on our youtube channel!
all of them are from our first EP launch gig on 24th May! =)
The videos take SO long to upload, so it'll be a while more before i get to the second gig..

link: www.youtube.com/cove2red

Anyway, I just wanna say a HUGE thanks to everyone who took time off to come down to support us at the gigs, as well as those who sent text messages, emails, facebook messages and whose presence we missed. THANK YOU..

2 weeks of gigging really wiped us out, but truly, it went awesome and I'm very very very glad to have connected with people whom I met for the very first time, like Trey-C, and new friends like Yaz, Rebecca, Shu Huai, Marco, Res Ken etc. Even my cousins and their family + an aunt came down for the second one. Amazing. It was our privilege to play for you and thank you all so so much for supporting us in buying an EP! =)

That said, we do still have stock left! (quite a few in fact) We'll be Cove-Redding again this wed at OOOM7 and friday at Global Sounds Cafe in hope of selling more EPs! If you're free, do come down to join us! =)

And if you'd like to get a copy or help us sell our EPs, do drop us a message. One and a half weeks more to school and it's exhilarating and a bit scary at the same time ! But I'm confident of His providence.. =)

It's been quite a packed month for us.. From OOOM to Red Lantern to 2 consecutive weeks of EP LAunch gigs to OOOM again and Global Sounds. Really can be pretty draining on the body and the mind, especially on the one who's working. SO I think a month off is gonna be a good break for us both. I hope that we'll be renewed and refreshed.. and when we come back, we'll have more things to offer through Him who strengthens us.

Thanks for reading! Now go view the videos already and comment if you will! =)

Love,
Cove

Eeeeppppeee Launch Gig part ONE

mind's still kinda blank from the busy weekend, but am so pleased to say we kicked off our eepee (EP: extended play) launch gig part one pretty well last sunday! of cos, made a few boo boos here and there, but hey, that's the fun of live gigs eh? =P so glad we didn't do "Mistakes".

anyway, for me, it was awesome to see familiar faces and some new ones at the gig. especially heartwarming to reconnect with ex-church mates, mentor (kevin) and fellow apprentice (nick) and lovely narisa who bought us cove red buttons (!!), our producer, gerald, nurul our photographer/designer and gang, ex-colleague who came (and paid $100 for an EP to support me.. thank you maggie!!) new friends like marco, resident kennedy, shu huai, diana etc.. and also cell mates like jo, nat and chris who were super enthusiastic in joining us in snapping fingers hah. good fun. thanks to all who made it down... really really meant a lot to us. honestly, we didn't know what to expect, but the turnout was pretty good and we sold quite a few EPs. (and becky's amazing postcards)

Well, an update about EP sales. we managed to sell 70 pieces during the launch (wooohoo) but reality hits hard after i did some calculations.

we still have about 400 PIECES to GO (minus a few orders) !!! And I'm leaving in 2 and a half weeks!!!!

*for those who dunno what's going on, here's the scoop: I'm actually raising funds to go on a pilgrimage. From June to July, I'll be studying in a Christian ministry school (http://www.ibethel.org/schools/worship/index.php?page=26) where I'll be honing my craft in the area of music and songwriting etc. my friend, eeleen and i have been accepted (YAY) and i need to raise at least $5500! all EP funds will be channeled towards my living expenses, school fees and accommodation etc. Besides the EP, i'm also on the lookout for potential partners to support me in this. If you're interested in partnering with me financially, do drop me a msg on facebook/sms/email etc and i'll keep you updated! =) also, check out www.awakenthedreamer.wordpress.com*

Currently, what we have earned so far is only half of our production cost. We really need to sell the EP as quickly as possible. So, besides normal sales, we're also looking for sellers to help us out!

we have this promo going on and it's actually pretty cool.

#1- get 10 from us first (or however many you want. just shoot) sell 9 to your friends within 2 weeks, and you'll get the 10th for free. Besides that, you'll get a free cafe latte from Coffee Nations Cafe at Bali Lane! Pretty cool huh?
#2 - buy 3 and get a cafe latte on the house from Coffee Nations Cafe as well!

We'll be throwing part TWO of our EP launch gig THIS SUNDAY 31st MAY at 5.30pm at Earshot Cafe, Arts House. If you're free, do drop by to hang out with us and check out our EP. If you can't make it down but u'd like to get it, simply drop us an email at cove2red@gmail.com OR contact us via facebook/mobile phone. We can arrange to meet you. =)

Yup, though time is short and i have many reasons to stress out, I really don't want to and I just wanna cling onto hope and trust that things are gonna be alright. As my south african sista, Robyn told me, "He's got you covered". I'm a believer. =)
But of course, friends.. i need all the help i can get, so would really appreciate some. =)

Thanks again to ALL who have helped one way or another, big and small. I appreciate your love, support and encouragement soso much. Thanks for believing in us =)

And thanks to the crew who made it all possible:
- to Matt, our percussionist who played with us last Sunday and will be again this week! can't wait to do it all over again!
- Gerry, our sound man, and Jeanne, the WOman behind the successful man!
- Lalang, our videographer who went around interviewing and shooting the gig! =D
- Nurul, our photographer who captured the right moments with artistic flair!
- Soaps, our amazing sales personnel who couldn't stop screaming. =P
- Becks, our other amazing sales personnel and rising star artist! =) so proud of u la.
- Eeleen, for gracing us with your presence, performing ur awesome song, and the great speech. sorry u can't make it for the next one!

And last but not least, Yinky, thanks for being the best partner. ever. really really. when our official album comes out, u'll get 70%. =P

love you guys..

for those who own a copy of our EP "Awaken The Dreamer", we hope that you'll be inspired to find your own.

dream on!

The Young, The Old & The In-Betweens!

Seems like Cove Red is set to conquer the young, the old, and the in-betweens! LOL

Last week, Cove Red invaded GreenRidge Secondary School, thus debuting our first of many future partnerships with ForeRunner, Campus Crusade For Christ's music ministry where we first met while volunteering some 2 years ago!

As mentioned in the previous post, we did 2 sets of songs for those kids there. They were so cute. Before we performed, they were a rowdy bunch who couldn't sit still and stop talking. During our sets, they kinda just mellowed down, though still fidgety, and listened to what we had to say and the songs. At one point nearing the end of the second set, I asked them if they were hungry. One boy said "yeah, we're hungry for more songs." Needless to say, we happily obliged and performed an extra song for them. Whoopee. =) All in all, a good gig. =)

Two days after the GreenRidge experience, we also played at Red Lantern. Met some cool people there, including an American singer-songwriter, Andie Francoeur who tickled our ears with her awesome originals. A few friends also came to support us and we were thrilled that they enjoyed our emo set. Yes. Emo. Freakin' amazing to play emo stuff in pubs. Andie cried when we sang "Gravity". Woot.

Next Sunday, we'll be taking down the old folks (haha)! Soul2Soul and Cove Red will be performing at a wedding together! We were told that most of the guests are pretty ... senior... so we have handpicked some senior favorites to win them over. Stuff like "Everything I Do, I Do It For You" and "True Colours" etc. =( Be all things to all men huh? Sing all songs to all kinds, I suppose. LOL...

Nonetheless, we had such an awesome time rehearsing with Soul2Soul last night! We did "L.O.V.E" and "The Way You Look Tonight" together and it sounded really good! =) Yay to collabs!

TONIGHT... we'll be playing a few numbers at OOOM6. can't wait!

Launch of "Awaken The Dreamer"

Hey guys!

It's been quite some time since we last updated this space.

That's because we had been rather busy with recording our unofficial debut EP: "Awaken The Dreamer" which will be released sometime in May!

The reason why it's unofficial is because the main focus of this EP is to help me (Rach) to raise funds to go to Bethel School of Worship in Redding, California from June to July. (to know more, go to www.awakenthedreamer.wordpress.com) So in a way, it was kinda unplanned. For such a young band like us, we feel that we have quite some time more to go before releasing an official one which will definitely include some deep spacey tracks for sure. Watch out for it in the not-so-near future...

In the meantime, you can certainly look forward to the crisp, acoustic sound of our upcoming EP. It consists of 5 originals, including "Dreamer", "Love & Water" and "Heart Conversations". They are mainly songs that we've been performing all over the island over the past 2 months, plus one that we have never done before for the public.

As the title suggests, "Awaken The Dreamer" hopes to unlock the chambers of lost and broken dreams, and release a new wave of the bold and the beautiful.

We truly hope that this album will inspire more people to pick up from where they left off, young and old, to start building (or rebuilding) a fortress of faith that will seal the destiny hidden within each being.

Visit the website (once again, it's www.awakenthedreamer.wordpress.com) and leave us some comments or encouragement etc. More details about the EP release date will be out soon! So, stay tuned!

Besides the EP, we also have been practicing hard for TWO upcoming gigs next week! One's at Greenrich Secondary School - a 2x20 min sets for academically-challenged kids. I'm pretty excited about this because I think these kids really need a lift to know that they truly are special and they have a future brimming with possibilities ahead of them. We'll be doing mostly a mix of our originals + songs like "On The Side of Me" , "Meant To Live" and "Fix You". Should be cool.

Second one's the Red Lantern Showcase at Next Page Pub. (yes, we're in. they made a mistake haha) Those who are interested are more than welcome to pop by Next Page Pub at 17 Mohammed Sultan Road next Sat at around 10pm to catch us! We'll be performing a mix of covers and originals (2 of Yinky's! Yay!!) and the cool thing is, our friends, Soul2Soul will alsoul (haha) be performing that night! SO come!!! Facebook or text us for more info! I gotta warn you though, the place is pretty small. So be prepared to stand. You have been warned haha..

Till next time.

wildly thrilled,
rach

Cove's Take On Red Lantern Selections!

Yinky's right. This Red Lantern Selections thingy was REALLY too AWESOME and STRANGE, and certainly warrants a blogpost. Yes, even from yours truly. =)

First of all, I'd like to clarify that I wasn't peeved with my "gramps" - the dude (his name is chung-yi!) who came to tell me how proud he was of me. To clear things up, he merely clasped my face with his man-hands (which were surprisingly smooth) and hugged me. Nothing more =) It's not that I was shy/offended. For the record, I just don't really like people to touch my face lest it breaks out. Ah...Vanity! But please feel free to pat my head or give me a hug if you wanna show me affection. =) My "weak spots". But anyway, that was real sweet of him. Yinky, no fists required. Not this one anyway. =)

Back to the event! I think Yinky did an awesome job of summarizing it, but here's my take on things.

Initially, I had thought this event was gonna be some small scale audition attended only by fellow aspiring bands, a handful of friends, and perhaps some judges. Well, it really started off like that. Everything matched my expectations - small platform, oriental decor, a few bands sitting around waiting for their turn etc. The event even started early, though the sound people arrived late. No sound check. No warning. It was more ad-hoc that I had expected.

However, a few moments before Soul2Soul went up, expats (a big group of Aussie dudes and dudettes) just poured in from outta nowhere!! When Soul2Soul started playing, it was mayhem. Everyone loved it! And the place was buzzing with so much joy & enthusiasm. They were irresistible with their mean renditions of popular pop songs! I couldn't stop grooving along!

When it was our turn to go up, (we were last) we were wrecked by nerves, though funnily enough, we didn't show it to one another. Confessions only took place after our set and we admitted both our hands were shaking during the gig! LOL. Anyway, we took to the stage and did our usual set. (Love & Water, Mistakes, Dreamer, Fix You by Coldplay and Heart Convos) It was very fun talkin' to the audience, 1/5 of whom (mostly expats) I already kinda knew from talking to them prior to our set. They were so responsive and attentive. I loved how rowdy they were too sometimes. More alive than most of the crowds we've performed to - even though they were MUCH quieter than when Soul2Soul were belting out their tunes.

So imagine our shock when we received many positive comments after our set. It warmed my heart to hear that people really dug the originals. I was genuinely surprised to hear grown men (foreigners!) coming up to us and telling us how much they liked it & how beautiful it was etc. I was especially humbled when one guy said "you guys should do more originals rather than covers." to which I replied "why? Is it because we didn't do a good job?" He floored me with his matter-of-fact remark "no, it's because your originals are much better than the cover. Keep doing your originals. It's beautiful..Oh.. absolutely beautiful. the two of you work really well together" AHHHHHH!!!! At that point, I was ready to drop dead on the floor and felt more proud than ever of Cove Red and my AMAZING partner, Yinky. =)

Then yet another Aussie guy (can't remember all their names...Gingko nuts, i need you!) came up to us and told us how much he liked it and said if he were to own a pub, he would invite us to be his resident singers. Too bad he lives in Australia and is going back on Saturday. =)

I still can't believe we actually did a gig in a PUB! The funniest thing is that we did original songs that celebrate love, faith, relationships, dreams, failures-victories, and one with the word "PRAY"... I'm truly blown away!! Especially by the response we got - even though I sang with a bad flu, we played a few wrong chords and made some mistakes here and there. I know it's truly all Him and His presence at work. *hands up*

What an awesome night... I dunno if we'll be selected for the Red Lantern Showcase on 2nd May.. *fingers crossed* I sure hope so because this is what I believe Cove Red is about. Being unconventional and invading dark (or dim) places with bloody good songs!

Pumped,
Cove

"red lantern" auditions

tonight's event seriously warrants a blogpost.
ranked a little lower than the sikh centre experience and humanist gatherings, :p, this was definitely one of the strangest (+ most awesome) places we've played at.
firstly, the place looked like.. this.
i felt like i'd stepped into one of those channel8 ancient china tv drama sets.
secondly, i knew it was gonna be held in a bar, but it didn't really hit me till i told my aunt where i was gonna be playing today.. "i'm going to be playing in a bar... (did i say bar? oh my. a bar..wow.. what is she gonna think..)"
it looked like a pretty placid performing space in the beginning, but once it got to like 930pm all these expatriates came trickling in, and by the time our friends soul2soul played, it was packed full of very tall, chatty, drinking men (+ a few women).
besides, when it was their turn to play, all the guys lining the 'aisle' cheered for "sharon!" as she made her way through, like she was an old friend. it was pretty funny.
similarly, rach has this magnet in her that attracts strangers like kids to an icecream uncle :p (no double-meaning intended). they just seem to naturally gravitate toward her and vice-versa (i think). gibby (a loaned gibson) was a great talking point cuz alot of them just started talking abt how beautiful she (gibby.. or..) was. haha. so even before we were up on stage, she'd made like 5 friends in the audience (in all of 15 mins or so)..
according to our sources, the audience was mesmerised (though from our p.o.v. it kinda looked the reverse, i.e. bored :) ).. and a few girls from the adjacent karaoke section came out to listen. the funniest part for me was just the incredibly enthusiastic + friendly expat crowd. and how rach was like a fish in water.. there was an extra-friendly dude who treated rach like his granddaughter or something when we came off stage.. along the lines of "i'm SO proud of you!!", going a tad overboard.. hahaha.. she did not take to that very well. i said i was sorry for not punching him back.
she's been wanting to play in clarke quay + i think tonight she got her wish. or at least the beginning of it.. :)
by the way, someone wished us "happy easter!" as we left! i thought that was pretty funny. nobody here (sg) ever wishes 'happy easter' and moreso not in a pub ;)

as for playing, my oh my. we were freakin' nervous + shaking. made some mistakes (maybe we shld get rid of that song in our future sets..) but with good originals, it don't matter too much. :)

please supplement, Cove.

this post has too many smilies.
gnite!

highlights of ooom5

*people clapped for us!! (and listened!!) ok just exaggerating but it's the warmest response we've gotten ever :)

*wow, i can't ever get the solos 100% right during the actual event (i know it's quite stupid b/c i made them up myself + they are beyond me)..
but some pple commented on my playing and really liked it so, yay! more than 50% correct notes.. :p anyway, that's pretty faithful to the phenomenon i experienced way back while playing classical music. tension and nerves cut down my hit-rate to like 75%...

*i was really impressed by the quality of the ooomers (for lack of better word)! really solid guitar skills and voices most of the time. call me biased but my favorite act was rach + syltra's KT Tunstall cover! they were so perfect.. much better than the original :p

*made a bunch of new friends (as usual)! learnt (as usual) that this is a crazy small world (probably 2 degrees of separation so far as s'pore is concerned).

*this is nuts. this is the stuff i dreamed for singapore to have in 2006. when i first met jon how @ the espl library cafe (SAC) i was really excited to c that he had open mic.. and then complained to him tt i didn't have anyone to sing with.. haha. and now, almost 3 yrs later...

*next up: singing 3 covers to RJ peeps next thurs! RJ!!!

compassion meeting aftermath

hello.
if my mac doesn't hang (as it's been in the habit of doing recently), i'll manage to post this...
3rd humanists' meeting today.. we think the performance went much better than the previous time we were here.. a few more ppl said they enjoyed it n we sound gd together, which is awesome.. :) think it was abit long tho. think 4 songs wldve been gd..

enjoyed the company. honestly i dunno if i got anything out of the 'panel'.. we didn't seem to be getting anywhere... but the video was fine.. but yeah. i really liked meeting ppl that are vastly different from ppl i usually hang around.. our new friend dan came up with like 50 diff concerns/qns/criticisms about Christianity n we were tryin to like.. absorb it all in.. :] nurul was an indian muslim whose grad thesis was 'ghost stories'.. how cool is that?? .. then we had george who shared some of his percussion stuff wth us incl. this wacky thing called a 'thunder cube' (i believe)..

yeah it was a fun night. i wish ppl wld look more happy n affirming when we play tho. haha. they mostly looked so bored and unenthu.

next up: ooom 5

*scape prep

or is it "scape*"?

anywayy. rach has been invited to perform at the scape building (youth park, opp orchard cineleisure) this coming sat. i am ever so honored to be her partner-in-crime and incredibly psyched to play at orchard.. it's like my fav part of singapore. hands down.

we pracd at starbucks united sq just now.. it takes like 3-4 hrs to figure out one song leh.. such terribly hard work.. i've never had to prac guitar so hard in my life.. honestly.. never before have i been pressed to acquire such fingerwork skill and control of this instrument.. the fretboard still confuses me (capo makes it even more confusing) n intervals on the violin are tons easier..
i've stagnated for years (why do u need to improve if all u are really 'required' to play every sunday is 6 chords in 5 keys [with tons of overlap.. being a math grad i shld prolly know how to work that out systematically but i shan't try]?).
public gigs are a good thing. a real good thing.

i have yet to learn (it's prolly somewhere on youtube) how to play jazz organ style on keys (which i totally faked during the espl gig episode).. and i guess bluegrass violin.
haha.

see you at *scape, or scape*, or *scape*...

v-day on the streets

Hi there!!
if you're reading this, you might have been one of the lucky (or not so lucky) winners who got to meet and hear us on valentine's day somewhere along orchard rd. here are some snapshots of our trip... do drop us a comment to say hi!!

cove red on mission, 14th feb 2009. destination: orchard
we handed out chocs, little notes and a song or two to spread the love!

our first unsuspecting group of listeners.. whom we entertained with i'll be there for you (from the sitcom "F.R.I.E.N.D.S.") in front of the MDIS building..

here's a really unsuccessful vid clip (that was a phototaking attempt)..

before 12, there weren't very many pple on the streets. plus it started drizzling *frown*.

waiting for the traffic light; headed to the skate park

on our way, there were some girls from jamiyah children's home with flag day tins.. we donated plus gave them chocs.. good deal for them, haha. we ended up playing for 4 of them: time after time, on the side of me (corrinne may), i'm yours (mraz)- which we didn't know half the lyrics to!
sadly, after the 2nd group we had to leave orchard to attend to our other various responsibilities..

.. but we were soooo psyched by the morning's experience that we decided to do it again late at night.. after rach's gig and my friend's wedding dinner! here's our first group outside tangs. we treated them to a less-than-techno version of unusual you (britney).

second group chillin' at one of those little nooks outside ngee ann city.. we serenaded them with on the side of me.

i'll be there for you for this fun + wacky girl-group :) they were already taking pics anyway..

our most on group who bartered our chocs for their chips ahoy and 7up..

we did unusual you and true colours i think.. and the ever-popular request i'm yours (mraz)- which we still didn't know half the lyrics to..
note to self for future such missions: learn top40! or at least top5..

and best of all.. imran impressed us with oasis' wonderwall. left-handed! while we hung out.

this was our last group.. by then it was prolly 0030hrs. it was a nice quiet group :p so we could sing something like gravity by sara bareilles.

*change pose* it was the most diverse group of the day.. who claimed they had "complicated" friendship origins :]

us and my new guitar stripey. tired but psyched and more than satisfied at the end of the day...
we got 'rejected' by two more groups at the end, which was weird because it hadn't happened the whole day.. haha. anyway we had run out of chocs etc. so we took it as a sign to call it a night..

this was probably the funnest + most meaningful vday i've ever had.. thanks to all you friendly people out there on orchard road!! i got to meet and talk to people i wouldn't normally hangout with on a regular basis, while doing one of my fav things in the world (music), in my fav place in singapore (orchard), and spreading the lurrrve to people (who probably thought we were nuts).

watch out- we'll be back!

love,
yinky of Cove Red

Operation Cove Red

It is official.

Cove Red is taking the world by storm - First stop: Dhoby Ghaut!

In less than 12 hours, we'll be heading out to the streets of Orchard to spread the love on Valentine's Day with perfect strangers! And what better way to do it than with chocolates (M & M's aka Music & Missions) and love songs? Serenade. Marinade. (aka flavour the air with songs of love)

Thrilled,
Rach of Cove Red
