So yeah, do come down to support us if you like!! =)

"Awaken The Dreamer" EP will also be on sale that day.

We are printing a second batch of CDs to sell, so if you'd like to purchase it, do contact us at cove2red@gmail.com.

I'll end off with this random, but beautiful quote.

Many Firsts

After about 2 months of break, Cove Red finally surfaced again and performed our first gig at the OCF Alumni Dinner 09'.
It was a night of many firsts.

#1 - my first time wearing slippers at a gig. (they were leather, so quite presentable. I guess)
#2 - our first time playing for an audience that's made up of a few generations from the same organization
#3 - our first time playing for an audience made up of 80% old folks (old aka 55 and above)
#4 - our first time eating dinner immediately after getting off stage
#5 - our first time receiving a love gift in front of a smiling crowd
#6 - our first time performing 99% covers (we only did one original by yinky)
#7 - yinky's first time playing crazy cool jazzed-up versions of some pretty cheesy christian songs
#7 - my first time singing a more "free" and contemporary style to those now-not-boring christian songs
(i needed to match up to her standard. Otherwise, would've defeated the purpose)

All in all, a pretty "chill" night. We enjoyed ourselves playing for the crowd as they eased their hunger with an array of unhealthy grub, like fried rice, other fried stuff that I didn't recognize, otah (grilled spiced fish cake) and fruit punch, which we happily chowed down after performing our other 2 numbers after the crowd had settled down.

It was kinda special performing the two songs that we specially chose for them. We played Yinky's original composition, "The Generation" *which sounds awesome* and "Legacy" by Nichole Nordeman. The two songs were selected because of the common theme of leaving a legacy and living for the next generation. Especially apt for the reunion of the generations of OCFers. (Overseas Christian Fellowship) It was our privilege to play for those who have braved it all before us, the ones who are still riding on the waves today, and also for the young ones who will be creating new ones in the years to come.

Oh, and I gotta say, the room offered an amazing view of the Singapore city, mostly of the Clarke Quay and City hall area. 30 storeys. No wonder.

Thanks to Kevin, Annie and Fannie for inviting us to partner with you for this event. =)

More to come.

Surprise!!

A meet-up with Kevin Mathews revealed a delightful surprise.

Okay, a jaw-dropping shocker.

Apparently, there was this article about the sound of Singapore in "Today" newspaper on Thursday. The reporter, Chris Toh, and his team selected 44 songs that they feel represent the sound of Singapore. "Heart Conversations" got in. =)

Here's what was written:

"30. HEART CONVERSATIONS BY RACHAEL TEO (2009)
This emotive track by the singer-songwriter belies her relative newbie status to the scene. Watch this space."

And here's the link to read the full story and list of songs:

I'm honored, humbled and delighted.

Now, that's ANOTHER reason to get your copy of our EP, "Awaken The Dreamer" huh? ;) We still have limited copies left and we intend to sell digital tracks online, and possibly print more EPs to sell at upcoming gigs! Simply email us or leave us a comment if you'd like to get your hands on it!

I'll leave you with my favorite line from "Heart Convos", as we affectionately call it.

"Oh heart, are you tired of waiting for His promises at bay. Don't you worry about tomorrow, keep beating for today."

Making it into the list of 44 is a fulfillment of this promise behind the lament.

For those out there wondering if it'll ever come, it will.

We ain't seen nuthin' yet. ;)

And We're Back!

Ola friends of Cove Red,

Good news to those who love us: We're back from the US! (Yinky from holidaying and visiting family, Rach from school and a week of vacation)

It's been an incredible 6 weeks of needed rest, learning life, catching up with loved ones for yinky, making new friends and forming family for rach, and most of all, a break from each other.
That wasn't necessarily bad.
It was necessary.

After numerous gigs over a consecutive few months, we were burned out.
And to be honest, it wasn't a lot of fun.
But the show had to go on, especially with the launch of our EP.
So we grit our teeth and continued gigging, and flashing our best smiles while at it.
Oh, in no way were those moments of joy fake though.
They just didn't last very long.

So we decided to take a break from each other. And our music. And we set off for, ironically, the same country.
After about 3 weeks of non-communication with each other, one day, yinky decided to drop by the church where I was studying to visit her friend who happened to be my fellow schoolmate.
(and of course, i knew she wanted to see me too, though she didn't spell it out. haha.)
We met up for a while over an in-n-out burger, snapped some pictures and said goodbye as she set off for her other leg of her US tour (haha)

A couple more weeks passed.
I was the first to leave the US with my friend, Eeleen.
She came back the week after my return.
We met up the next day at Coffee Bean @ Rail Mall (just this Wednesday)

The air felt different.
The joy was evident.
Excitedly, we chatted late into the night, sharing our experiences in the US, laughing, yes, actually laughing together.

AWESOME....

So yeah, Cove Red is back and we're better.

Take that, stupid tired bug. *bish*

Anyway, though we've only been back for less than 2 weeks, we already have a few gigs lined up in August and September.
Check out our facebook for more details coming your way soon.

10th August (Monday): OCF dinner gig (Overseas Christian Fellowship, our first real Christian gig)
18th September (Friday): Cove Red's debut appearance at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre
21st September (Monday): Rachael & Friends Gig (featuring Yinky too... naturally!)

So yeah, no details as yet. Will post them up soon.

Thank you to everyone who helped support us in buying our CDs, writing us notes, encouraging us with your words, most importantly, for your friendship.

DREAM ON, FELLOW DREAMERS!!!

Love,
Rach

NEW Vids!

Hey guys!

I just uploaded a bunch of videos on our youtube channel!
all of them are from our first EP launch gig on 24th May! =)
The videos take SO long to upload, so it'll be a while more before i get to the second gig..

link: www.youtube.com/cove2red

Anyway, I just wanna say a HUGE thanks to everyone who took time off to come down to support us at the gigs, as well as those who sent text messages, emails, facebook messages and whose presence we missed. THANK YOU..

2 weeks of gigging really wiped us out, but truly, it went awesome and I'm very very very glad to have connected with people whom I met for the very first time, like Trey-C, and new friends like Yaz, Rebecca, Shu Huai, Marco, Res Ken etc. Even my cousins and their family + an aunt came down for the second one. Amazing. It was our privilege to play for you and thank you all so so much for supporting us in buying an EP! =)

That said, we do still have stock left! (quite a few in fact) We'll be Cove-Redding again this wed at OOOM7 and friday at Global Sounds Cafe in hope of selling more EPs! If you're free, do come down to join us! =)

And if you'd like to get a copy or help us sell our EPs, do drop us a message. One and a half weeks more to school and it's exhilarating and a bit scary at the same time ! But I'm confident of His providence.. =)

It's been quite a packed month for us.. From OOOM to Red Lantern to 2 consecutive weeks of EP LAunch gigs to OOOM again and Global Sounds. Really can be pretty draining on the body and the mind, especially on the one who's working. SO I think a month off is gonna be a good break for us both. I hope that we'll be renewed and refreshed.. and when we come back, we'll have more things to offer through Him who strengthens us.

Thanks for reading! Now go view the videos already and comment if you will! =)

Love,
Cove

Pop10!!

Apparently, Pop too has a sacred ten! Only difference is.. it starts with the why/how/what.

We took some time out to answer some very hard questions…

Check out our very first joint interview here:

P.s I know it's hard to switch from awakenthedreamer blog to this and vice versa.. Upon our return, we will compile it into ONE blog. thanks for ur patience though, you guys.
